EuGene McCormick, better known as “Gene”, holds the credentials of an MSW, LICSW, LADC, CCHP. Gene is the Director of Mental/Behavioral Health Services of the State of Vermont Department of Corrections for MHM-Centurion VT Services. Prior to this appointment, he worked for VT DOC as the Risk-Reduction Coordinator in Burlington and St. Albans VT; Phoenix House of New England, providing Counseling services for offenders at the Northern State Correctional Facility, in Newport, VT. He has worked in the field of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment since 1991. He was the Deputy Director of Talbot Hall in Newark New Jersey, a 500 bed Treatment facility managing 178 employees. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University in New York City, Bethune-Cookman University of Daytona Beach FL; Edward Waters College in Jacksonville FL; and Kean University of Union, NJ, where he taught Social Work Practice. His areas of expertise are Substance Abuse, Mental Health, AIDS/HIV health, family issues/housing, violence/victim services, and individual/behavioral problems. Additionally, Gene studied under Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy pioneer Albert Ellis in NYC, while attending Fordham University for his MSW. Gene also served on the Board of Directors for Self- Management and Recovery Training (SMART), assisting in expanding SMART programming in the field of corrections. He is currently Vice-President of the Vermont Chapter of the NASW. He has now been appointed as Director of Mental Health/Behavioral Health Services for MHM-Centurion.
