May Member Survey Results

Last month we asked for your ideas about increasing from 1.5 to 3.0 the number of ethics CEUs required within the 20 total for licensing in VT. In addition, we wanted to find out what you thought about increasing the number of CEUs, within the 20 required, that could be earned on-line.

Of those who responded:

• 92% were MSWs
• 71% hold the LCSW license in VT
• 57% believe it is a good idea to increase the number of ethics hours required, but 42% said No or Maybe
• 71% favored increasing the number of hours within the 20 required from 5 to 10 for informal, including on-line, training.

Additional comments were made to reinforce the idea that ethics is important. Two respondents argued we should have more than 20 CEUs required. With an increase in on-line courses, one person wanted assurance one could still earn the ethics credits on line.

The number of respondents to this survey is far too small to come to any conclusions about what social workers across the state think about these questions. But we thank you for sharing your ideas and we invite you to respond to the June Member Survey!
